I have a hosting account, now what do I do?
A step by step guide with links to detailed information.
Thank you for hosting with Remedywebhosting.com
Typically the steps for migration of a web site are:
- Create/Purchase a web hosting account (which you have already done with us)
- Move your web site files to the new host via a FTP program. ( Window: WS FTP Pro or IE6+ | MAC: Fetch ) (See "Accessing the Hosting Server" below)
- Set up your email accounts via the Control Panel (if they are not set up already via migration).
- Switch your domain name to point to our hosting servers.
Our settings are: "ns1.remwebhosting.com" & "ns2.remedywebhosting.com"
It can take up to 48 hours for a domain to fully resolve on our servers.
Step 1) After we have set up your account on our servers you should receive a user name and password from us to access your Hosting Control Panel. https://host.remedywebhosting.com:2083/ Please make sure you have access.
Step 2) Migrating your Web Site to your new Web Hosting Account
Option A) Have us do it. For a small hourly fee we can migrate your web site to our servers for you.
Option B) Move your web site from a current web host or publish their web site from their own computer which they developed with a html editor.
The most popular method of moving a web site on your own is using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). To do this you'll need an FTP program. You can "Add-on" and FTP client program into almost any web browser these days or you can download free FTP clients programs like "FileZilla". Once you have the FTP program on your machine or web browser you then will be able
to connect to our web server via FTP and move the files to our server. A more in depth explanation can be read here.
Step 3) Depending on how you migrated your web site your emails may already be set up from the settings on your old web site. If not, you'll need to set up any email addresses you need from the Control Panel.
Step 4) Your domain
Your domain is registered through a domain name registry. While you may have registered this through us the domain name is very different from a web hosting account. A domain name merely points to a web hosting account. So once you upload you web site to our web hosting servers you then will need to access your domain name registrar account and point the domain name to our servers. Its a pretty simple process explained here.
Your Hosting Control Panel can be accessed by going to https://host.remedywebhosting.com:2083/ .
It also can be reached by going to: http://[yourdomain]/cpanel (Where "yourdomain" is the domain name you own)
Typically the steps for migration of a web site are:

Switch your domain name to point to our hosting servers
( Domain Name Servers: "ns1.remwebhosting.com" & "ns2.remedywebhosting.com" View Help for this)
After setting this, it will take between 24 - 72 hours for your domain name to point to our servers.
Accessing your Web Hosting Server:
Even though you may have not pointed your domain name (I.e. yourcomany.com) to our hosting servers yet you still can reach your new hosting server to FTP (move) your site to it by using a FTP program listed above and going to the following address. ftp://host.remedywebhosting.com . Use the main log-in and password listed above. You can view your site by using the following address: http://host.remedywebhosting.com/~YOURUSERNAME ( where YOURUSERNAME is changed to the user name provided above.)
Email:
You can set up your email accounts by entering the Hosting Control Panel "CPanel" and clicking on the "Mail" Icon. Then clicking "Manage/Add/Remove Accounts". Click the "Add Account " link and enter the specifications. The quota defaults to 10 megs which is usually plenty of space. Keep in mind giving more space takes away from the amount of space you have to store your web site.
Please be aware that Remedysoft, Inc. does not tolerate the use of our web hosting servers for spam email campaigns of any kind.
Your account will be terminated immediately if your account is used for sending out spam e-mail.
Further action including clean up fees and legal action may also be taken.
Outlook Clients: If you didn't previously change the password and are using the correct POP3 and SMTP settings in Outlook there will be nothing further you need to do. If you experience problems retrieving your email ( after the propagation of your domain is completed 48-72 hours ) then you may have changed your email password or have been using alternative settings that will need to be adjusted to connect correctly. Please visit our walk through for these settings at: http://www.remedywebhosting.com/support/setup.htm
